I was approached by the local Kingsday committee to help by building a website for the annual Kingsday event. I looked at it as a fun challenge and a good way to get my name out there to build a local customer base. There was no existing website yet, so I had to design and develop it from the ground up. I decided against using a CMS as it was not needed for a simple and informative website that would just get bloated by CMS content.03
The process consisted of me building the website and asking the client for feedback on what they liked or didn't like. I kept building on this and eventually came to a finished version that had everything the client wanted (within reason). The website is heavy on orange, as should any Dutch themed website, and uses modern / big fonts to separate sections. Other than designing & development the website, I was also responsible for hosting it. I used a VPS that runs Apache as a webserver, and backed this by the CloudFlare CDN for protection and a valid SSL-certificate.04
I'm happy with the result. I was able to create a modern website that truly showcased the beauty of the Dutch Kingsday event. The client was also very pleased and satisified with the result. Looking at the eventpage on Facebook, the event was a big success. Hopefully my website contributed to this.
